'China's war with Japan 1937-1945: The Struggle for Survival' by Rana Mitter

Revisiting an earlier book review here, but I thought it interesting how the pre-Jack Ma SCMP offered a surprisingly critical take on the Chinese Communist Party whilst reviewing the Rana Mitter book "China's War With Japan 1937-45: the Struggle for Survival." It remains to be seen how impartial the SCMP can now be, but as of April 2016 the signs are not entirely encouraging.
